The G3 Development Group Emerge Student Curriculum

G3 Development Group’s Emerge student athlete development program has been developed through 20 years of experience and backed by scientific research in executive leadership development, positive psychology and the peak performance mindset.

Phase 1 - Introduction to a strengths-based approach to self-awareness for students, parents, coaches and staff

  1. Intro to the strengths-based approach for students, parents, coaches and staff.
    1. Introductory session about strengths and why over 22+ million people worldwide have taken the assessment and how the Emerge program builds self-awareness, leadership and mindset skills for peak performance in athletics and education.
    2. Take the assessments, analyze the results, map the team strengths.

Phase 2 - Interpreting the strengths results, building self-awareness and strengths mapping the team and staff to build high-performing, engaged teams.

  1. Interpreting the strengths results.
    1. Building self-awareness - Working through 4 classroom style exercises designed to build individual and team awareness around the strengths of the group.
    1. Parents\Student Athletes\Staff - Reviewing the 10 Youth Strengths Explorer themes, understanding what it all means.  Intro to strength’s mapping.
    2. Staff\Coaches - Reviewing the 34 Clifton StrengthsFinder themes, understanding what they mean and how you can build a culture of peak performance and engagement around strengths.
  2. Parent\Child Strengths Affirmation Activity - Parental activity to help understand their child’s strengths.
  3. Coach\Staff Strengths Affirmation Activity - Coaches and school staff will work on an activity to help build self confidence in the student athlete.

Phase 3 - Leadership development - A strengths-based approach to defining dreams and goals, visioning, personal mission statements, and the importance of reflection on success and failure.

  1. Using Strengths Explorer to develop an Individual Leadership Development Plan for the student athlete.  We will focus on developing the student athlete as a leader, when each student athlete can lead and how to lead in school and on the field. 
  2. Dreams and Goals - Introducing the student athletes to the peak performance goal setting process and vision boarding.
  3. Personal Mission Statement - Developing a personal mission statement for each student athlete.
  4. Introduction to reflection - Reflecting on success and failure is the key to building a growth mindset and understanding how to utilize our strengths to build upon our successes and grow from our failures.

Phase 4 - Mindset Awareness - Integrating positivity, visualization, physiology and energy transference to maximize athletic performance, build a peak performance mindset and no-limit thinking.

  1. Mindset Awareness
    1. What happens when negative thoughts creep in or things don’t go as planned.
    1. Positivity - The use of positive language in our day-to-day conversation to build confidence.
    2. Visualization - Combining positive self-talk and visualization techniques to continue to build self-confidence. How to feel your best, winning in your mind.
    3. Physiology - Power posturing to build self-confidence. How your body language commands respect and builds confidence. Making a positive first impression.
    4. Energy - How your energy affects those around you and your team.  The power of a positive and happy mindset.
    5. No limit thinking - Understanding how to stay in a growth mindset vs a fixed mindset and performing at a high level to be the best version of yourself!
